Third Thursday Art Walk
Join us to celebrate Catherine Broadwall's [formerly Catherine Kyle] brand new poetry collection, "Fulgurite."
Named for the glassy, mazelike structures that form underground when lightning strikes sand, "Fulgurite" weaves together reality and myth. Informed by fairy tales, domestic fabulism, and environmental concerns, she examines gender on large and small scales.
A lovely review in Kirkus is here. Partial sneak: "A soulful and often stunning poetry collection."
Catherine Broadwall's writing has appeared in Bellingham Review, Colorado Review, Mid-American Review, and other journals. She is an assistant professor at DigiPen Institute of Technology, where she teaches creative writing and literature.
Find her everywhere! Her website. On facebook. Instagram.
The amazing poet and educator Jeannine Hall Gailey will be Catherine's conversation partner!
Jeannine Hall Gailey is a writer with multiple sclerosis who served as the 2nd Poet Laureate of Redmond, Washington. She's the author of six books of poetry including "Field Guide to the End of the World," winner of the Moon City Book Prize; and "Flare, Corona" from BOA Editions. She has a B.S. in Biology and M.A. in English from the University of Cincinnati and an MFA from Pacific University. Her work has appeared in The American Poetry Review, Salon, Ploughshares, and Poetry.
