Back to topJoin us to meet local Seattle author and photographer Marilyn Morgan!
Join us to celebrate the publication of Marilyn Morgan's newest book, "Trailblazing Black Women of Washington State."
Breaking glass ceilings, organizing clubs and making history as the first in their fields, these trailblazing Black women paved the way for new generations. Black women were crucial to the war effort, working as Rosies at Boeing during World War II, and in the postwar years, Seattle musicians like Edyth Turnham and Her Knights of Syncopation were in high demand. Join author and historian Marilyn Morgan as she chronicles the incredible lives and contributions of Washington’s Black women.
Marilyn Morgan is an author, historian, and photographer living in Seattle, Washington.
Ms. Morgan earned a B.A. degree from Virginia State University and obtained a Documentary Production certificate from the University of Washington.
Here is a great column/excerpt in Pacific Northwest Magazine from her new book, including many of the photos.
Marilyn Morgan will be joined in conversation by the multi-talented Alicia Crank: Executive Director, Seattle CityClub; owner of Crank'd Up Consulting;
and [new!] columnist at The Everett Herald.
