In "Less Is Lost," a lovable, hapless hero returns. Great review in The Washington Post, here.
Andrew Sean Greer was elated, if a little confounded, when his 2017 novel “Less” received the Pulitzer Prize. Now he’s following it up with a sequel, which he knows might raise some eyebrows. So what if it’s unseemly? Great article/review here in The New York Times.

A great article/interview in The New York Times is here.
A couple of highlights!
>Do you count any books as guilty pleasures?
Fredrik Backman: No. I can’t imagine a time where reading should make you feel guilty. When I was little I was obsessed with comic books, and one time one of my mother’s friends said condescendingly to her: “Why don’t you give him a proper book to read?” My mother turned around and answered: “My children can read whatever they want, just as long as they read!” It’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. My mother is still the person I talk about reading with the most.
>You’re organizing a literary dinner party. Which three writers, dead or alive, do you invite?
Fredrik Backman: Douglas Adams, Astrid Lindgren, Charles Dickens. They would trick me into going outside and then lock the door and not let me back in, but that’s all right. And another review/interview is here!
“I have kids and a dog,” says Fredrik Backman, whose new book is “The Winners,” “so my dreams of a reading experience are limited to just being left alone for 10 minutes just about anywhere.”

Celeste Ng’s splendid new novel, “Our Missing Hearts,” is set in a world where Chinese Americans are spurned and books get mulched into toilet paper. Stephen King reviews it for The New York Times, calling it “a meditation on the sometimes accidental power of words.” The review here.
